Writing Process-Essay 1

While writing Essay 1 I saw how my writing skills have improved since I left high school. Writing seemed to flow easier than it did back in high school. I used to have to make an outline in order to organize my thoughts but after doing the presentation I think that helped me more than writing an actual outline about my topic. This project helped me express my thoughts and ideas clearly, but I think I still need tons of stuff to improve on my writing, which I am hoping to do throughout this course.

Essay 1

     My writing process for essay 1 went pretty well; I could say it was easier than I thought it was going to be. Once as I figured out my thesis everything else seemed to flow with it, even though I could not add much to my paper I think I did a good job at it. I gave information enough to discuss and make myself clear throughout my paper in order to let the reader know what was my paper about. If I could change my paper I think I would have made it longer.

Reflection

Being terrified to speak in public, I think that my presentation did not go as well as I thought it was going to be. I was really nervous and because of that I could not express myself correctly and give my classmates the information I was supposed to. I believe I had all the information necessary in order to give a good presentation of my research process but if I had the opportunity to improve my presentation I think I would redo it all over again; I think I needed to give more evidence and examples in order to support my thesis and prepare myself more in order to express myself clearly.

My research process

My research process has been a difficult one; starting with the search for a blog with the right content of my interest, and then revising its analysis. I believe the blog I will be following is sort of complicated because of the content; it does not help the reader to find a clear identity of the blog, even though I think the content is very helpful and informational. I am afraid that it would make it harder for me to complete my research paper. If I am not able to answer the questions and meet the requirements for the assignment I will then look for another blog with the same topic but with a more clear identity in order to do so.

People and media

As people surrounded in a society by technology; such as the internet, it has become one of the different types of communication in media and one of the most revolutionary in the history. We use blogs and social networks in order to express opinions or ideas and also to interact with other people. Rettberg assures us this by saying that “People like participating in the media. We like contributing and sharing our ideas, and we are unlikely to stop now that we have the technology to allow it” (155). The different types of media have impacted our society in various ways; we use it for advertising, sharing and obtaining information, and just a way of expressing ourselves through blogs and social networks. As I said that living in a technological society we would like to get out of it as much as possible, knowing that media has a huge potential over our society.

My interests

Ever since I have been reading blogs; the topics that I look up are health and multi-culturalism in society. I really do not have a reason why I am interested in them; they just really get my attention. Throughout this course I am looking forward to learn and expand my knowledge about them, and learn how could I become a part of those bloggers by researching, reading others, using critical thinking and also writing in a proper way.

Who am I as a writer?

I believe I am a creative writer but also a work in progress. I love writing in unexpected ways integrating the use of metaphors, similes, and analogies within the composition.
